Background
We Idea Communications is a marketing agency based in China. They were looking for a native English editor, and a contact referred me.
Brief
The agency needed ongoing substantive copyediting and proofreading support for one of its clients, BMW Group. The copy is for a monthly internal comms newsletter to share the latest company updates. The original copy supplied was in Chinese English, so it needed some interpretation as well as standard editing.
Approach
My approach is always to start with gaining a correct understanding of the content, including asking for more information or doing online research. I then work through each piece of news systematically, correcting the flow, sentence structure and grammar and ensuring it’s written in clear, concise and easy-to-read native English.
