Background
Cassowary Cafe was a new ethical, sustainable café in Belmont, designed to welcome the whole community. They focus on sourcing local, sustainable produce, offering inclusive menu options, and creating a space that’s friendly, fun, and environmentally conscious.
Brief
The project involved:
- Writing SEO website copy for the Home, About, and Partners pages
- Developing a keyword report to target SEO-friendly terms for each page
- Crafting a tone that was informal, chatty, and fun while still clearly communicating the café’s values and offerings
Approach
The process kicked off with a discovery call to really understand the café, its mission, and the type of customers it wanted to attract. I explored competitors and similar ethical cafés to ensure the copy would stand out and capture the Cassowary difference.
From there, I structured each page to guide visitors naturally through the story of the café—from its sustainable values to its community-focused partnerships—while embedding keywords strategically so search engines could find them without compromising readability.
The tone was playful and conversational, reflecting the café’s personality, while the copy also highlighted the ethical sourcing, sustainable practices, and unique experience Cassowary offers.
I made practical recommendations for page layout and navigation, helping the content work seamlessly with the design.
I also gave additional guidance for visual elements and design contacts to ensure the copy and look of the site felt cohesive and inviting.
